What an unbelievable day.  Who would have imagined at the beginning of the football season that we would be celebrating a Saints super bowl victory just as we are starting the high school baseball season?  It really is kind of surreal.  I want to tell all that made it out this past Saturday, a sincere thank you for the work that you did.  We had so much help that it did not take nearly as long as expected.  But all the signs that were ready were hung, the dugouts, bleachers and the concrete area under the covered area were power washed, the batting cages were swept clean, the concession area had contact paper put on all of the shelves, and all of the trashcans were emptied.  I am sure I am forgetting something but again thanks to all that could get out there to help. We are getting very close to game time now so we need the weather to cooperate some to let the field dry out.  Looking at the forecast it looks like some rain is heading our way.  Stay tuned to the website for any schedule  changes.  The Varsity will play Sulphur this Tuesday at home beginning at 4 pm weather permitting, then travel to Pineville to take on Bolton and Pineville Saturday for 1 pm and 3 pm games.  The J.V. will travel to Sulphur this Thursday for a scrimmage at 3:30 pm and the Freshman take the field Wednesday at Iowa at 5 pm.  A very busy week.  Again, thanks for being a part of Sam Houston Baseball.  Also, if you see one of the Park Board Members, tell them thank you for dropping that limestone down and spreading it so the players and coaches don’t have to slosh through the mud to get to the locker room and batting cages.  The Park Board is also planning to put an ice machine in the concession stand and fountain drink dispenser in there soon.  Things just seem to be getting better and better!  Bill
