When you play the number 1 team in
the state, you expect more. When Sam Houston got
finished beating the you know what out of Tioga, it left
you feeling………………..NEXT! That’s what it was Friday
night on the hill. Tioga started fast, hitting 2 of the
first 5 pitches thrown over the left field wall for a
quick 2-0 lead. But the Broncos answered in the bottom
of the 1st getting one back as Andrew
Guillotte walked, stole second, and scored easily on a
monster double by Evan Powell making it 2-1 after 1.
Again, Tioga played home run derby hitting another solo
shot to lead off the second but that was it for them
that inning. The Broncos on the other hand, took what
Tioga gave them, mixed in a double and a single and
scored 7 runs with 2 outs to take an 8-3 lead. Billy
Sommers started the inning with a walk, DJ Johnson then
forced him at 2nd hitting into a fielder’s
choice. Travis Montgomery then hit a single, followed
by a strike out for the 2nd out of the
inning. Andrew Guillotte then hit a double down the
left field line scoring Johnson and Montgomery. Donovan
Landry then hit a triple over the right fielder’s head
scoring Guillotte. Powell then was hit in the head with
a pitch, Ethan Logan then hit a single scoring Landry,
G-Lo then walked, when Sommers was hit by a pitch
plating Powell. DJ then walked scoring E-Lo for the 6th
run of the inning. With the bases full and 2 outs,
Chance Terrell, running for the catcher Logan, had the
most dramatic moment of the game, stealing home, sliding
head first for the 7th Bronco run of the
inning. The game then turned into somewhat of a
pitcher’s duel as Bronco pitcher Cody Rider settled down
facing only 10 batters over the next 3 innings and the
Broncos threatened but did not score over the next 3
innings. During Tioga’s 6th, they finally
scored after Rider walked a batter, threw a wild pitch,
followed by a single to make it 8-4. The Broncos then
scored 6 to finish the game as G-Lo walked, Sommers
walked for his 3rd time of the game, Johnson
walked to load the bases, Montgomery walked scoring G-Lo
for an rbi, Blake Felts walked scoring Sommers for an
rbi, Guillotte hit his 2nd double of the
game, driving home Johnson and Montgomery. Landry then
got his 3rd hit of the game driving in
Felts. E-Lo finished the scoring and the game with a
double scoring Guillotte and Landry for a mercy rule
14-4 victory. Cody Rider pitched the entire ball game
for the Broncos giving up 6 hits, walking 2 and striking
out 6. Top Bronco hitters were Andrew Guillotte 2-4 3
runs scored 2 doubles and 4 rbi’s, Donovan Landry 3-5,
and E-Lo 3-4 3 rbi’s, |
